Ingredients

1 c. shortening
1/2 c. white sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar, packed
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
2 c. flour
1 Tbsp. vanilla
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1 egg
1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
Preparation

Cream 1/2 cup sugar and shortening.
Add egg.
Sift dry ingredients; mix with sugar-shortening mixture and nuts.
Shape into small balls; roll in 1/2 cup sugar and cinnamon.
Press flat with glass that has been dipped in sugar and cinnamon.
Bake 10 minutes in a 350\u00b0 oven or until golden brown around edges.
Makes about 6 dozen 2-inch cookies.
