Tom Thumb Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. shortening
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 c. sifted flour
    1/2 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
    2 eggs, well beaten
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. brown sugar
    1/2 tsp. baking powder
    2 tsp. flour
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1 c. coconut
    1 c. black walnuts
Preparation
    Mix the following and press into a 6 x 10-inch pan or an 8 x 8-inch pan:
    shortening, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1 cup flour and 1/2 cup brown sugar.
    Bake at 325\u00b0 for 15 minutes.
    Then mix 1 cup brown sugar, vanilla, eggs, baking powder, 2 teaspoons flour, 1/4 teaspoon salt, coconut and walnuts.
    Place on top of first mixture and bake for 25 minutes longer.
    Cut in squares.
