Maraschino Cherry Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/4 c. cake flour
    1 1/3 c. sugar
    3 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. soft shortening
    1/4 c. cherry juice
    16 cherries, cut up
    1/2 c. milk
    4 egg whites or 1/2 c.
    1/2 c. chopped nuts
Preparation
    Heat oven to 350\u00b0.
    Grease and flour an 8-inch layer pans or oblong 13 x 9-inch pan.
    Mix dry ingredients in a bowl.
    Add shortening, juice, cherries and milk.
    Beat 2 minutes.
    Add egg whites.
    Beat 2 more minutes.
    Fold in nuts.
    Pour in pans.
    Bake layers 30 to 35 minutes or oblong 35 to 40 minutes.
