Black Forest Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 box Duncan Hines devil's food cake mix
    1 (21 oz.) can Wilderness cherry pie filling
Preparation
    Mix and bake cake according to directions.
    Bake in greased 9 x 13-inch Pyrex dish.
    While cake is still hot, punch holes over the top with fork.
    Sprinkle 2 tablespoons sugar over cake.
    Heat cherry pie filling and add 1/2 cup sugar and 1/8 teaspoon almond extract.
    Mix well and cover cake while still hot.
    Cake needs to set a few hours before serving.
    Serve with Cool Whip on top.
