Ingredients

4 c. scalded milk
1 c. sugar
9 Tbsp. melted shortening
2 eggs
2 cakes yeast
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 Tbsp. vanilla
5 c. flour (enough to make dough stiff enough to knead)
Preparation

Scald milk; cool.
Melt shortening and add to scalded milk. Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water.
When milk is cool, add flour, salt and sugar sifted together, a small amount at a time.
Stir well and add vanilla, beaten eggs and yeast before dough gets too stiff.
Knead well on a floured board.
Have a soft dough.
