Meatball Stew - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 lb. ground beef
    1 1/2 tsp. salt
    1/8 tsp. pepper
    1 egg
    1 Tbsp. salad oil
    3 Tbsp. flour
    1 Tbsp. minced onion
    1/2 c. soft bread crumbs
    1 (16 oz.) can tomatoes
    1 c. water
    2 tsp. sugar
    1 tsp. crushed dried basil
    3 medium potatoes, peeled and diced
    4 small carrots, peeled and diced
    1 onion, chopped
    1 stalk celery, sliced
Preparation
    Mix ground beef with salt, pepper, egg, minced onion and bread crumbs.
    Form into balls the size of walnuts.
    Brown in hot oil. Remove meatballs from skillet.
    Pour off all fat, except 3 tablespoons.
    Blend in flour.
    Stir in remaining ingredients. Bring mixture to a boil.
    Simmer over low heat 10 minutes, adding more water if necessary.
    Pour over meatballs in a 2-quart casserole.
    Bake, covered, in a moderate 350\u00b0 oven for 1 hour or until vegetables are tender.
    This may also be cooked on top of stove if simmered slowly.
    Serves 6.
