Crullers - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. shortening
    1 c. sugar
    2 eggs
    1 c. milk
    3 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/4 tsp. nutmeg
    1/2 tsp. salt
    flour
Preparation
    Cream shortening; add sugar, then well beaten eggs.
    Sift baking powder, nutmeg, salt and 1 cup flour.
    Add, alternately with milk, to 1st mixture.
    Add additional flour to make dough stiff enough to handle.
    Toss on floured board.
    Roll 1/2-inch thick and cut into strips.
    Twist and fry in deep fat (300\u00b0 to 370\u00b0).
    Drain on ungreased paper and when cool, roll in powdered sugar.
    Makes about 3 dozen.
