Italian Creme Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 stick margarine
    1/2 c. shortening
    2 c. sugar
    5 eggs, separated
    2 c. flour
    1 tsp. soda
    1 c. buttermilk
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 small can coconut
    1 c. chopped nuts
Preparation
    Cream margarine, shortening and sugar until light and fluffy. Add egg yolks and mix well.
    Sift flour and soda together; add to cream mixture alternately with buttermilk, beginning and ending with dry ingredients.
    Add vanilla, coconut and nuts.
    Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.
