Sawdust Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 large pkg. gelatin (any flavor)
    2 sliced bananas
    1 (20 oz.) can crushed pineapple, drained (reserving fruit)
    2 c. hot water
    1 c. cold water
    1/2 c. sugar
    3 Tbsp. flour
    1 egg, beaten
    2 Tbsp. butter
    8 oz. cream cheese, softened
    8 oz. Cool Whip, thawed
Preparation
    Mix together gelatin and hot water.
    Stir until dissolved. Add bananas, drained pineapple and cold water.
    Pour into 9 x 13-inch pan.
    Refrigerate until jelled.
    Combine sugar, flour, egg, butter and pineapple juice.
    Cook over low heat; stir well until thick.
    Remove from heat and stir in cream cheese.
    Mix until cheese is melted.
    Fold in Cool Whip.
    Cool and then spread on top of congealed salad.
