Roast Chicken - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 (4 to 5 lb.) chicken
    salt
    pepper
Preparation
    Heat oven to 450\u00b0.
    Unwrap chicken and remove giblets from cavity.
    Thoroughly rinse chicken inside and out.
    Place bird on roasting pan with shallow sides (no higher than 1-inch) and place in oven.
    Bake for 30 minutes.
    Reduce heat to 400\u00b0 and bake 15 to 25 minutes more or until the thigh meat registers 160\u00b0 on a meat thermometer or the juices of thigh run clear when poked with a fork.
    Remove from oven.
    Let stand 10 to 20 minutes before carving.
    Serve with baked potatoes and cooked green beans or salad.
    Serves 4 to 6.
