Ingredients

1 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. lemon or vanilla flavoring
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
Preparation

Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Add egg and flavoring; beat well.
Add sifted dry ingredients and mix thoroughly.
Wrap dough in waxed paper; chill for several hours or overnight.
Roll very thin, 1/16-inch thick, on a floured pastry cloth. Cut into desired shapes.
Place on cookie sheets and sprinkle with sugar.
Bake in a hot oven, 425\u00b0, for about 5 to 7 minutes or until delicately browned.
Yields about 5 dozen.
