Mary'S Never Fail Meringue - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. water
    6 Tbsp. sugar
    1 Tbsp. cornstarch
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
    3 egg whites
    pinch of salt
Preparation
    In saucepan,
    combine
    water,
    sugar and starch.
    Heat, stirring until thick
    and
    clear.
    Remove
    from heat;
    stir in vanilla.
    In large bowl,
    whip egg whites with a pinch of salt until droopy peaks form;
    continue whipping as you slowly pour in the sugar
    water
    mixture.
    Whip
    until
    peaks
    stand
    up. Spread over warm
    filling
    pushing
    up meringue against crust. Bake at 450\u00b0 for 5 to 7 minutes or until nicely browned.
    Cool on rack away
    from draft.
    Do not refrigerate until completely cool.
