Turtle Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 box German chocolate cake mix
    1 c. evaporated milk, divided
    1/2 c. melted butter
    1 lb. pkg. caramels
    1 c. pecans
    1 c. chocolate chips
Preparation
    Mix cake mix with 1/2 cup milk and butter.
    Pour half of batter into greased 11 x 13-inch pan.
    Bake 5 to 6 minutes.
    Cool slightly.
