Pepper Relish - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    8 large onions
    12 green bell peppers
    12 red bell peppers
    12 hot banana peppers
    1/2 c. salt
    2 c. sugar
    1 pt. white vinegar
    celery seed to taste (1 tsp.)
    mustard seed to taste (1 tsp.)
    turmeric to taste (1 tsp.)
Preparation
    Grind onions and peppers and sprinkle with the salt.
    Let stand 2 hours.
    Drain in colander and rinse well with cold water. Combine sugar with vinegar, celery, mustard seed and turmeric. Bring to a boil.
    Add vegetables and return to boiling; simmer 20 minutes.
    Seal according to directions in hot sterilized jars. Makes about 12 pints.
