Possum - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 opossum or prairie dog
    1 qt. water
    8 small sweet potatoes, yams or Russet potatoes
    salt
    4 slices bacon
Preparation
    Scald opossom in lye water and scrape off hair; do not break skin.
    Dress whole, leaving head and tail.
    Rinse thoroughly.
    Rub inside and out with salt.
    Let stand in cool place overnight.
