Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 gal. cucumbers
    8 onions
    3 c. vinegar
    1 tsp. celery seed
    1 tsp. turmeric
    1/2 c. canning salt
    6 c. sugar
    2 Tbsp. mustard seed
    2 c. water
    1/2 tsp. ground cloves
Preparation
    Slice cukes and onions thin.
    Mix in salt and cover; let stand 3 hours.
    Drain well.
    Make a syrup of the sugar, vinegar, water, turmeric, cloves, mustard seed and celery seed.
    Pour over cukes slices and place over low heat.
    Heat but do not boil.
    Pour into hot jars and seal.
