Red Apple Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    1/4 c. salt
    1/2 c. cinnamon candies
    4 firm tart apples, pared and cored
    1/2 c. cottage cheese or 1 (3 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
    1/4 c. chopped green pepper
Preparation
    Combine sugar, salt, candies and 3 cups water in a saucepan. Heat, stirring until candies are dissolved.
    Add apples; cover. Cook slowly until
    just tender, turning occasionally to color evenly.
    Drain and chill.
    Mix cheese with green pepper; stuff apples.
    Serve on watercress or lettuce.
    Yield:
    4 servings.
