Applesauce Fruit Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. brown sugar
    1/2 c. vegetable shortening
    3 eggs
    3 1/4 c. sifted flour
    2 c. unsweetened applesauce
    1/2 lb. white raisins
    1 c. chopped, candied fruit
    2 c. chopped nuts
    1/2 tsp. salt
    2 tsp. soda
    1/2 tsp. cloves
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. ginger
Preparation
    Cream shortening and sugar.
    Add eggs, one at a time, and beat thoroughly after each addition.
    Add salt, soda and spices to the flour and sift again.
    Add alternately with applesauce to egg mixture.
    Beat well.
    Add a sprinkling of flour to the fruit, raisins and nuts; blend in.
    Fold into batter.
    Bake in tube pan for 2 hours at 300\u00b0.
