Pot Roast - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 rump roast
    1 onion
    water
    salt and pepper to taste
    garlic powder
Preparation
    Place roast in a large cast iron pot.
    Add a teaspoon of shortening.
    Rub with garlic powder, salt and pepper on roast. Cook on medium heat on both sides until roast is dark, adding water while it cooks.
    Each time you add water, also add garlic powder, salt and pepper.
    When roast is brown enough, quit turning.
    Add 2 cups of water to make some red eye gravy.
    Cook roast for about 3 hours.
    When it is about done, chop up onion and add to gravy.
