Cracker Pudding - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2/3 c. cracker crumbs
    3/4 c. sugar
    1/2 tsp. salt
    4 c. milk, scalded
    1/4 c. melted shortening
    2 eggs, separated
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1/4 c. confectioners sugar
    1 Tbsp. lemon juice
Preparation
    Combine cracker crumbs, sugar, salt and milk.
    Stir in melted shortening and beaten egg yolks.
    Add vanilla.
    Pour mixture into greased baking dish and bake in moderate slow oven at 325\u00b0
    for 1 hour.
    Remove from oven and cover with meringue prepared by beating the whites of eggs until stiff, adding confectioners sugar gradually and lemon juice.
    Bake in slow oven at 300\u00b0
    until meringue is brown, about 20 to 25 minutes.
    Serves 6.
