Classic Meat Lasagna - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. chopped onion
    3 cloves garlic, minced
    2 Tbsp. Crisco shortening or Crisco oil
    1 lb. ground beef round
    2 (14 1/2 oz. each) cans no salt added stewed tomatoes
    1 (6 oz.) can no salt added tomato paste
    2 tsp. dried basil leaves
    1 tsp. dried oregano leaves
    1/2 tsp. sugar
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    2 c. low-fat (1%) cottage cheese
    1/2 c. grated Parmesan cheese, divided
    1/4 c. chopped fresh parsley
    8 oz. wide lasagna noodles
    1 c. (4 oz.) shredded low moisture part-skim Mozzarella cheese, divided
Preparation
    Saute onion and garlic in Crisco shortening or Crisco oil in large skillet on medium heat until soft.
    Push to one side of skillet.
    Add meat.
    Crumble and cook.
    Drain, if necessary.
    Add tomatoes.
    Break into smaller pieces.
    Add tomato paste, basil, oregano, sugar and pepper.
    Simmer 30 minutes.
