Waldorf Astoria Red Velvet Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. shortening
    1 1/2 c. granulated sugar
    2 eggs
    1 c. buttermilk
    2 1/2 c. flour
    2 Tbsp. cocoa
    1/2 tsp. salt
    2 oz. red food coloring
    1 Tbsp. vinegar
    1 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Cream shortening, sugar and eggs.
    Add milk, sifted dry ingredients (flour, cocoa and salt).
    Beat until fluffy, then add food coloring and vanilla.
    Fold in (do not beat).
    Mix soda and vinegar together and add last.
    Pour into two 9-inch pans.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 to 35 minutes.
