Buttermilk Pecan Candy - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. buttermilk
    2 c. white sugar
    1/2 c. oleo
    1 tsp. baking soda
    3 Tbsp. Karo syrup (white or dark)
    2 c. pecans
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Combine buttermilk, sugar, oleo, baking soda and syrup in a large kettle.
    Cook to a soft ball stage, 235\u00b0 to 240\u00b0 on thermometer.
    Cool slightly.
    Add pecans and vanilla.
    Beat until thick enough to pour in buttered dish.
