Cheese And Sausage Strata - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 lb. sausage
    8 slices homemade type bread (white), cubed
    3/4 lb. Monterey Jack cheese, grated
    4 large eggs, beaten lightly
    1 1/2 c. milk
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. Dijon mustard
    pinch of cayenne
    1/2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
    3 Tbsp. unsalted butter, melted and cooled
Preparation
    Brown sausage over moderately high heat, breaking it up with a fork, and transfer with a slotted spoon to paper towels to drain. Brush a 1-quart souffle dish with some of the fat remaining in the skillet; arrange 1/3 of the bread cubes in the bottom and sprinkle them with 1/3 of the cheese.
    Arrange sausage over the mixture. Add half the remaining bread and sprinkle half the remaining cheese over it.
    Top with remaining bread and press layers down slightly.
