Indian Pudding - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 c. milk
    1 c. maple syrup
    1/4 c. butter
    2/3 c. cornmeal
    1/2 tsp. ground ginger
    1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
    1 1/2 c. dried currants or raisins
    ice cream (optional)
Preparation
    Combine 3 cups milk and maple syrup in saucepan and place over medium heat.
    Heat until just boiling.
    Add butter.
    Combine cornmeal, ginger and nutmeg in separate bowl.
    Gradually stir cornmeal mixture into hot milk.
    Reduce heat to low and cook until thickened, about 10 minutes.
    Fold in currants.
    Spoon mixture into buttered 2-quart casserole.
    Pour remaining 1 cup milk over pudding.
    Do not stir.
    Bake at 300\u00b0 for 2 1/2 hours or until all the milk has been absorbed and top is golden brown.
    Top with ice cream.
