Lentil Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 lb. lentils
    1 tsp. salt
    1 large clove garlic
    3/4 c. uncooked pasta (egg bows, small shells)
    2 Tbsp. olive oil
    1 small clove garlic
    4 oz. can tomato sauce or equal amount chopped fresh tomatoes
    dried or fresh basil
    salt to taste
Preparation
    Wash lentils, drain, add to 3 quarts water in a soup pot.
    Add salt, large clove garlic and bring to boil.
    Lower heat and simmer, adding more water, if needed, for about 1 hour.
    While lentils are cooking, in a saucepan, place olive oil and garlic clove.
    Cook over medium heat until garlic is lightly browned.
    Do not scorch.
    Add tomatoes, salt and basil.
    Simmer slowly to make a sauce.
    In a separate pot, boil pasta and drain.
    To finish soup, add sauce and pasta to lentils and serve hot.
