Leola'S Shrimp And Okra Gumbo - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. fresh shrimp, peeled and deveined
    1 piece bell pepper, cut into small pieces
    1 bay leaf
    1 stick celery, chopped
    1 (8 oz.) pkg. frozen okra, chopped
    1 clove garlic, mashed
    4 Tbsp. cooking oil
    5 Tbsp. all-purpose flour
    1 medium onion, chopped
    3/4 c. whole tomatoes
    1 Tbsp. chopped green onion
    1 Tbsp. chopped parsley
    3 1/2 pt. water with shrimp broth
    salt and red pepper
Preparation
    Put fresh shrimp in 1 pint of water with 1 teaspoon salt. Cook over medium heat about 5 minutes or until shrimp turn pink. Turn off heat and leave covered 3 minutes.
    Drain and reserve liquid for gumbo.
    In a large pot with heavy bottom, add flour to heated oil.
    Cook and stir constantly, until deep golden brown. Take pot away from heat and quickly add onions and garlic; cook 4 minutes on low heat.
    Add bell peppers and bay leaf.
    Combine broth with remaining water.
