Apple Strudel(Circa 1950) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. flour
    2 tsp. baking powder
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. sugar
    1/4 lb. butter or margarine
    1 egg
    milk
    1 tsp. vanilla
    2 or 3 apples, sliced
    cinnamon and sugar
    Confectioners Frosting
    nuts, chopped
Preparation
    Mix and sift dry ingredients.
    Then cut in butter with two knives.
    Beat egg in a cup.
    Fill balance of cup with milk.
    Make a well in dry ingredients and stir in the liquid ingredients, including the vanilla.
    Roll out on floured board to about 1/4-inch thickness.
    Top with sliced apples, sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar and roll up like a jelly roll.
    Bake at 425\u00b0 for 15 minutes. Then reduce heat to 350\u00b0 for another 45 minutes.
    Note:
    If dough is too moist, add more flour.
