Cabbage Relish - cooking recipe
Ingredients

3 large heads cabbage, chopped or shredded
1 qt. mustard
pimento (as desired; for color and flavor)
2 1/2 lb. onions, chopped or shredded
1 qt. vinegar
1 tsp. red or black pepper
5 lb. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1/2 box mustard
1/2 box mixed pickling spice, tied in cloth
Preparation

Place the following in pan:
mustard, vinegar, sugar, mustard seed, salt, pepper and pickling spice bag.
Bring to boil and add cabbage, onions and pimento.
Boil for 15 minutes.
Mix 1 cup flour with enough water to form paste; slowly stir into relish mixture.
Cook for few minutes longer.
Put into hot jars and seal.
