Italian Creme Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 stick butter or margarine
    1/2 c. shortening (Crisco)
    2 c. sugar
    5 egg yolks
    2 c. cake flour
    1 tsp. soda
    1 c. buttermilk
    5 egg whites, beaten
    1 c. pecans, chopped
    1 c. Angel Flake coconut
    1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Cream butter, shortening and sugar together well.
    Add slightly beaten egg yolks.
    Now add flour alternately with buttermilk and vanilla in which soda has been dissolved.
    Fold in beaten egg whites and add coconut and pecans.
    Bake in 3 (9-inch) layers in 350\u00b0 oven for approximately 30 minutes.
    Test for doneness.
