Ingredients

1 1/4 c. sifted flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. milk
2 Tbsp. melted shortening
1 1/2 c. drained pitted cherries (reserve juice for sauce)
2 c. hot water or cherry juice and water
1/2 ??? sugar
Preparation

Mix dry ingredients.
Spread evenly in greased shallow pan. Arrange cherries on top.
Bring sauce to boil and pour over cherries.
Bake at once for 30 minutes at 350\u00b0.
Serve hot with whipped cream or sour cream.
