Carrot-Pear Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 Tbsp. butter
    1 large onion, diced
    2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
    1 stalk celery, sliced
    6 carrots, peeled and sliced
    1 medium potato, peeled and cut in 1-inch pieces
    2 pears, peeled, cored and cut in 1-inch pieces
    1 bay leaf
    3 (13 3/4 oz.) cans chicken broth
    1/8 tsp. pepper
Preparation
    Heat butter in large pot.
    Add onion, garlic and celery; saute until softened, about 10 minutes.
    Add carrot, potato, pear, bay leaf and chicken broth.
    Cover and bring to boil.
    Lower heat; simmer 40 minutes.
    Remove bay leaf.
    Working in batches, whirl soup mixture in blender or food processor until smooth puree. Season with pepper.
