Stove Top Pumpkin Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sugar
    2 Tbsp. cornstarch
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1 c. evaporated milk
    2 c. pumpkin, cooked and mashed
    3 egg yolks
    1 stick margarine
    1 tsp. butternut or vanilla flavoring
    1 baked 9-inch pie shell
Preparation
    In saucepan, combine sugar, cornstarch and salt.
    Gradually stir in milk and pumpkin.
    Cook and stir until thickened.
    Remove from heat; take out small amount of hot mixture and stir into beaten egg yolks.
    Return to hot mixture and cook 2 minutes longer.
    Remove from heat and stir in margarine and flavoring. Cool to room temperature; pour into pie shell.
    Top with meringue.
