Ingredients

2 c. sugar
1 c. butter
5 eggs, reserving whites for icing
3 1/2 c. sifted cake flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 c. milk
2 tsp. vanilla
Preparation

Cream butter and sugar.
Add one egg at a time, beating after each one.
Add flour, sifted 5 or 6 times with baking powder, alternately with milk.
Add vanilla.
Bake in 3 (9-inch) layers at 350\u00b0 for 25 to 30 minutes.
Cool and frost.
