Mixed Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2-inch pieces pickles
    1/4 c. pure salt
    1 pt. vinegar
    1 heaping Tbsp. pickling spices
    1 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. white onion
    1 pt. water
    pinch of alum
    2 c. sugar
Preparation
    Slice pickles into 1/2-inch pieces.
    Cover with mixture of 1/4 cup pure salt and water per 2 quarts of pickles used.
    Boil the rest of ingredients in large pan.
    Add pickles.
    Bring to a boil again.
    Can and store.
