Ingredients

2 lb. beef, cut in cubes
2 medium onions, cut in eighths
3 stalks celery, cut diagonally
4 medium carrots, cut in large chunks
1 c. tomato juice
1/3 c. quick tapioca
1/2 tsp. basil
salt and pepper to taste
2 medium potatoes, cut in slices
Preparation

Combine all ingredients, except potatoes, in 2 1/2-quart casserole.
Cover and cook at 325\u00b0 for 2 1/2 hours.
Stir occasionally.
Add potatoes and cook 1 more hour.
Serve with French bread.
