Key Lime Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 eggs, separated
    1 c. sugar
    1 Tbsp. gelatin
    2/3 c. Key lime juice
    1 Key lime rind, grated fine
    1/2 tsp. salt
Preparation
    Beat egg yolks.
    Add 1/2 cup sugar, lime juice and salt.
    Cook in double boiler until the mixture coats a spoon.
    Remove from heat and add gelatin (which has been soaked in 1/2 cup cold water) and rind.
    Mix well, chill; until the mixture begins to thicken. Beat egg whites with remaining sugar until they stand in soft peaks.
    Fold into a 9-inch baked pie crust or a crumb crust. Chill.
    Spread with real whipped cream just before serving.
