Onion Rings - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    8 to 10 medium onions
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 slightly beaten egg
    1 c. sifted flour
    1/2 tsp. baking soda
    1 c. buttermilk
Preparation
    Peel and slice onions.
    Separate and soak in ice water for 1 hour.
    Drain and dry.
    Sift flour, soda and salt.
    Combine egg and milk and add to dry mixture; beat until smooth.
    Deep fry until golden brown.
