Ingredients

3/4 c. lukewarm milk
2 Tbsp. sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp. salt
1 scant Tbsp. shortening
1 pkg. yeast
Preparation

Sprinkle yeast on ingredients.
Do not stir.
Let set for 15 to 20 minutes, until it looks foamy.
Stir in flour to stiffen. Let raise.
Work down.
Let raise again.
Cut.
Let them raise, then fry in hot fat.
I use Crisco.
(Four times this recipe makes about 85 doughnuts.)
