Beef Zucchini Casserole - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    6 small zucchini
    1/2 c. chopped onion
    2 Tbsp. shortening
    1 lb. ground beef
    1/2 c. cracker crumbs
    1 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    2 c. milk
    1 c. grated Cheddar cheese
    1/8 tsp. oregano
    1/4 c. butter
    1/4 c. flour
Preparation
    Cook zucchini whole until tender-crisp.
    Drain and cut into 1/2-inch slices.
    Saute onions in shortening.
    Add ground meat and brown lightly.
    Drain.
    Add crumbs, salt, pepper and oregano. Melt butter in pan; add flour.
    Add milk; stir.
    Cook until thickened.
    Add cheese; stir until melted.
    Place 1/2 of zucchini in 2-quart casserole, then 1/2 of beef, then cheese sauce.
    Repeat layers.
    Bake in 350\u00b0 oven for 25 minutes.
    Serves 6 to 8.
