Layered Lettuce Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 head lettuce, broken into small pieces
    1 c. diced celery
    4 hard-boiled eggs, sliced
    1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen green peas, thawed and cooked or 1 can peas, drained
    1/2 c. diced green peppers
    1 medium onion, diced
    8 slices bacon, cooked and crushed
    2 c. Hellmann's mayonnaise
    1 to 2 Tbsp. sugar
    4 oz. Cheddar cheese, shredded
    parsley (for garnish)
Preparation
    Layer first 7 ingredients in order given in a 12 x 9-inch glass dish.
    Combine mayonnaise and sugar.
    Spread evenly over top of salad.
    Sprinkle with cheese.
    Cover and refrigerate 8 to 12 hours.
    Garnish with parsley before serving.
