Mom'S Gingerbread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. molasses
    1 tsp. baking soda
    2/3 c. boiling water
    1 egg
    1/2 c. shortening
    1/4 tsp. each: ginger, cinnamon and nutmeg
    1 3/4 c. flour
Preparation
    Add together first 3 ingredients and stir.
    Add remaining ingredients and beat until smooth.
    Use greased and floured 9 x 9-inch pan.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 to 40 minutes, until done.
    Serve hot or cold with whipped cream or Cool Whip.
