Beef Stew - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. stew meat (beef cubes)
    1 large onion, diced
    1 clove garlic
    pepper
    1 pkg. Knorr mushroom soup mix
    1 Tbsp. flour
Preparation
    Saute onion until golden; set aside.
    Brown meat in hot oil. Do not crowd.
    Do in two batches if skillet not large enough.
    Put browned meat in pot.
    Cover with cold water; add onion and bring to a boil.
    Simmer for 1 1/2 hours.
    Pepper to taste.
    Mix soup mix with 1 cup cold water and 1 tablespoon flour.
    Add to meat; simmer 1/2 hour.
    Add more water or beef stock if getting too thick.
    Squeeze garlic through garlic press.
    Mix into stew the last 15 minutes.
    Serves 4.
