Fried Johnnycakes(Virgin Island Native Recipe) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. flour
    2 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/4 c. shortening
Preparation
    Sift flour, baking powder and salt.
    Cut in shortening.
    Add water; make stiff dough.
    Knead until smooth.
    Roll 1/4-inch thick. Cut in rounds; prick with fork; fry in hot deep fat.
    Serve hot.
