Coconut Cream Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/2 c. milk
    3 Tbsp. cornstarch
    3 Tbsp. margarine
    1/4 c. milk
    3 egg yolks, save whites
    1 c. sugar
    1 c. coconut
    1 tsp. vanilla
    cream of tartar
Preparation
    Put milk in saucepan and add margarine.
    Cook until it boils. Meanwhile, mix cornstarch, sugar, egg yolks and 1/4 cup milk.
    When milk and margarine starts to boil, add cornstarch mixture.
    Stir until thickened.
    Add 1 cup coconut and vanilla.
    Pour into cooked pie crust.
    Add a pinch of cream of tartar to egg whites and beat until stiff.
    Add 3 tablespoons of sugar.
    Beat until whites stand in peaks.
    Add 1 teaspoon cornstarch.
    Pour onto pie and sprinkle with coconut.
    Cook until browned at 350\u00b0.
