Taffy Apple Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. sugar
    2 Tbsp. cider vinegar
    1 egg
    1 Tbsp. flour
    1 c. peanuts, chopped (reserve 1/4 c. for top of salad)
    4 c. peeled and diced Granny Smith apples
    1 (8 oz.) carton whipped topping
    1 large can crushed pineapple, drained and save juice
Preparation
    Cook together sugar, vinegar, egg, flour and juice.
    Simmer until thick, stirring constantly.
    Cool and refrigerate.
    Combine apples, 3/4 cup peanuts and pineapple.
    Fold in whipped topping, then cooled sauce mixture.
    Sprinkle remaining peanuts on top.
