Butter Chews - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3/4 c. butter, softened
    3 Tbsp. sugar
    1 1/2 c. sifted flour
    2 c. light brown sugar
    3 eggs, separated
    1 c. nuts (chopped)
    3/4 c. coconut
Preparation
    Cream butter and sugar; blend in flour.
    Pat into bottom of a well-greased 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 15 minutes.
    In a bowl, beat egg whites until stiff and set aside.
    Beat egg yolks until thick; add brown sugar and beat well.
    Stir in nuts and coconut; fold in egg whites and spread over baked crust.
    Return to oven and bake 25 or 30 minutes longer.
    Remove from oven, cool in pan, dust with confectioners sugar.
