Boiled White Icing - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. sugar
    1/4 c. white corn syrup
    1 tsp. vanilla
    3 egg whites
    1/2 c. water
Preparation
    Combine sugar, water and syrup; stir well.
    Cook to a soft ball stage or 240\u00b0 on candy thermometer.
    Pour syrup over stiffly beaten egg whites; beat until icing hold its shape.
