Old-Time Fried Okra - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 qt. okra
1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 c. cornmeal
1/2 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper
1 egg, beaten
1 c. shortening
Preparation

Wash and drain okra.
Cut off tips and stem ends.
Cut into 1/2-inch slices and set aside.
Combine dry ingredients and mix well.
Stir egg into okra.
Dredge okra in flour mixture.
Heat shortening in large skillet until hot.
Add okra and fry until brown and crisp.
Drain well.
Serves 6.
