Jam Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 eggs, separated
    1 tsp. soda
    1 c. white sugar
    1 c. brown sugar
    1 c. butter
    1 c. buttermilk
    1/2 tsp. each: cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and allspice
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. jam (any flavor) *
    1 c. nuts, chopped
    3 c. flour
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 325\u00b0.
    Beat egg yolks until thick; add soda, both sugars and butter.
    Beat until creamy; add spices and vanilla.
    Add jam, nuts and beaten egg whites.
    Fold in flour and milk.
    Pour into tube or loaf pan.
    Bake.
